The Klimaroute – does this need a translation? It is the Climate Route, on the banks of the Main, the river that lends its name to our region.
The Klimaroute consist of a series of stations, and all of them are attractive places inviting passes-by to stay for a while. They are related to
a specific topic of climate change, pinpointing it to rivers worldwide. It is not teaching and preaching but inviting, and the message will be
presented in a subtle way, based on designs of the well-known HfG, the Hochschule für Gestaltung in Offenbach, one of the leading academies
of arts and design.
This website is the key to additional information and for details; with facts, interviews and deep links to a wealth of relevant sources, and it will
be updated regularly.
The Klimaroute is one product of C-Change, which is an international project carried by a team of public authorities from Germany, the UK,
France, Belgium, Luxemburg and the Netherlands, led by Groundwork London. Because of its European relevance and the importance of
climate change, the leitmotiv, this project is receiving subsidies from the European Interreg IVB NWE programme.
As one of the German partners, the Regionalverband FrankfurtRheinMain is leading a team of 4 cities, being Mühlheim am Main, Offenbach am Main,
Frankfurt am Main and Kelsterbach (representing one of the Regionalpark companies). This team is formed by officers from these authorities,
and external experts, including the DWD (the Deutscher Wetterdienst, the German Met Office). Invaluable input came from the vey fruitful co-operation
with design students, alumni and professors of the HfG.
The Klimaroute is that branch of our C-Change activities that is addressing the general public. Behind the scenes and on an expert level we are also
contributing to Climate Proofing the Plans, with all C-Change partners being responsible for instruments of spatial planning.
